New Feature - Frontend Theming & Self-Service Enablement This release introduces a major capability focused on merchant autonomy and frontend customisation.

In development. We will announce availability in the Release Notes rather than commit to a date.

  • Merchant Empowerment: Merchants can browse themes, apply designs, and customise them using a visual editor.

  • Faster Time to Launch: No need for developer involvement in layout or design changes, so visual updates can happen immediately.

  • Developer & Agency Enablement: Agencies can build and offer custom themes to merchants.

  • Future Marketplace Ready: Sets the stage for a theme marketplace with community and partner contributions.

  • Safe Transition: Existing storefronts remain unaffected unless a migration is initiated.

What is changing?

  • A Liquid-based theming engine for full frontend customisation.

  • The ability to browse, preview and apply themes to your store.

  • A visual editor for customising colours, fonts, layouts and more.

  • Support for section-based editing, reusable content blocks and live preview.

  • Framework support for a future theme marketplace.

Why Liquid?

Liquid is a trusted and widely used templating language designed specifically for e-commerce. Using it unlocks:

  • Flexible, modular design

  • Reusable components across pages and themes

  • A clean separation between presentation and logic

  • Developer and merchant co-creation opportunities

This work is in active development and forms part of a wider programme that also includes a new visual content editor, theme editor and code editor. See the Roadmap for how these fit together.
