| New capability - integration and developer enablement | In development. We will announce availability in the Release Notes rather than commit to a date. | Connect your own systems to your store, build a custom storefront, and automate work that is manual today. |

## What is coming

### An Admin API across the platform

An administration API covering the major areas of OE Commerce, so the data and actions available in the back office are also available to your own systems. All of the reports are included, so the figures you read on screen can be pulled directly into your own reporting.

### Self-service API keys

Create and manage your own API credentials from the back office, including setting an expiry and rotating a key without our involvement. Credentials are managed per application, so access can be withdrawn from one integration without affecting the others.

### Client libraries

Libraries for common programming languages, so your developers are not writing an integration from scratch. This shortens the work involved in connecting an ERP, an accounting package or a stock system.

### A toolkit for AI agents

Building on the structured data your storefront already publishes, a toolkit that lets AI assistants work with your catalogue. Your products are already readable by AI tools; this extends what they can do.

## Why this matters

A headless API separates your storefront from the systems behind it. That gives you three things:

* **Integration without workarounds.** Your other systems can read and update store data directly, rather than relying on imports and exports.
* **A custom storefront.** If you want a storefront built to your own design, it can run on the same catalogue, stock and orders.
* **Automation.** Work that is manual today, such as keeping stock in step with another system, can run on its own.

{% hint style="info" %}
This is additive. Nothing about how you use the back office changes, and you do not need to use the API to keep running your store exactly as you do now.
{% endhint %}
