# Bundles

A bundle is a single product made up of other products sold together, such as a hamper, a starter kit or a package deal.

A bundle is a product made up of other products sold together. The customer buys one item, and you decide what goes into it, how much choice they have and how it is priced.

Bundles are one of the four product types, alongside Goods, Coupons and Gift Vouchers, and are created from the same place in the back office.

### Why Use a Bundle?

* Sell a hamper or gift set as a single item.
* Offer a package at a better price than buying the items separately.
* Let a customer build their own kit from options you control.
* Keep the core items fixed while offering extras the customer can add or leave out.

### Basics

The Basics tab carries the details the bundle is listed and found by:

* **Name** and **Short Name** - what the bundle is called on your storefront.
* **SKU** and **Barcode** - your own references for the bundle as a whole.
* **Categories**, **Tags** and **Labels** - where the bundle appears and how it is found.
* **Short Description** and **Full Description** - the copy shown on the product page.

### Bundle Items

A bundle is built from **items**. Each item is one slot in the bundle, and you add as many as you need with the **Add Item** button.

Each item has:

* **Label** - what the slot is called on the product page, such as Main Gift or Add a Card.
* **Required** - whether the customer must take this item. Switch it off to make the slot an optional extra.

Within an item you add the products that can fill it:

* **Default Qty** - how many of that product the bundle includes.
* **User Defined Qty** - lets the customer choose the quantity instead of it being fixed.
* **Config** - for a product that has variants, restrict which options are offered inside this bundle, such as only certain colours or sizes. Select nothing and all options remain available.

Adding more than one product to the same item turns it into a choice, so the customer picks one of the alternatives you have listed.

### Pricing Behaviour

Set how the bundle is priced:

* **Dynamic** - the price is the sum of the items the customer has selected.
* **Fixed** - you enter a single price for the bundle.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Fixed pricing suits a bundle whose contents never change. If your bundle has optional items, user defined quantities or alternatives to choose between, a fixed price will not reflect what the customer actually selected. The back office warns you when a bundle contains items of this kind, and dynamic pricing is usually the better choice.
{% endhint %}

### How to Create a Bundle

1. Click on Catalogue > Products
2. Click the Create icon
3. On Select product type, choose Bundles and click Create
4. Complete the Basics
5. Click Add Item to create the first slot
6. Give the item a label, and set whether it is required
7. Add the products that can fill the item, and set the quantities
8. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for each further item
9. Choose Dynamic or Fixed under Pricing Behaviour
10. Save your changes

{% hint style="info" %}
The products you put into a bundle are your ordinary catalogue products, so their stock is still tracked in the usual way. Add the products to your catalogue first, then build the bundle from them.
