Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication requires your customers to confirm their identity with a second check when they sign in, on top of their password.

This matters most for stores holding trade accounts, saved addresses or stored credit, where a compromised customer password could be used to place orders in someone else's name.

How It Works

When it is switched on, a customer signing in enters their password as usual and is then asked for a second confirmation before reaching their account.

How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Select the store you would like to update

  2. Click on Manage Store Settings underneath Settings

  3. Open Customer Accounts & Sign-Up

  4. Open the Two-factor authentication section

  5. Switch the setting on

  6. Save your changes

This setting applies to your customers signing in to the storefront. Sign-in to the back office is covered under Signing In.
