# Facebook Pixel

The Meta Pixel, still widely known as the Facebook Pixel, is a piece of tracking code you add to your store. It lets you measure how well your Meta advertising is working by reporting what customers do on your store after clicking an advert, and it is what allows you to retarget visitors who did not buy.

### Before You Start

Create a Pixel in Meta Events Manager and note its ID. Meta's own [instructions](https://www.facebook.com/business/help/952192354843755?id=1205376682832142) cover that setup.

### How to Add a Meta or Facebook Pixel

1. Create your Pixel in Meta Events Manager and copy its ID
2. Select the store you would like to add the Pixel to
3. Click on Manage Store Settings underneath Settings
4. Open Marketing & Growth
5. Open the Facebook Pixel section
6. Click into the text box and paste the ID that Meta provided
7. Save your changes
8. Visit your storefront, then check Events Manager to confirm activity is being received

It can take a short while before activity appears in Events Manager. Meta's Pixel Helper browser extension is the quickest way to confirm the Pixel is firing on your pages.

Tracking customer activity carries obligations in most markets, including telling visitors about it in your privacy policy and collecting consent where required.
