# Customer emails

Customer emails are the notifications your store sends to your customers after something happens, such as completing an order or registering an account.

This section is where you choose which of those emails are sent, who each one appears to come from, and what its subject line says.

### How It Works

Each email is listed separately with the following controls:

* Whether the email is **sent** at all.
* The **sender** it appears to come from.
* The **subject line** the customer sees.

### How to Update Customer Emails

1. Select which store you would like to update
2. Click on Manage Store Settings underneath Settings
3. Open Notifications & Email
4. Open the Customer emails section
5. Switch on the emails you want your customers to receive
6. Set the sender and subject line for each one
7. Save your changes
8. Place a test order on your storefront and check the email that arrives

{% hint style="warning" %}
Order confirmation is the email customers most expect. Switching it off tends to generate support queries from customers unsure whether their order went through.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Subject lines are the first thing a customer sees. Including your store name and the order number makes your emails easier to find later.
{% endhint %}
