# Merchant emails

Merchant emails are the notifications your store sends to your own team when something happens, such as an order being placed or a new customer registering.

This section is where you choose which notifications you receive and who receives each one. That last part is useful where different people handle different things, so order notifications can go to your dispatch team while registration notifications go to sales.

### How It Works

Each notification is listed separately with two controls:

* Whether the notification is **sent** at all.
* The **address** it is sent to.

### How to Update Merchant Emails

1. Select which store you would like to update
2. Click on Manage Store Settings underneath Settings
3. Open Notifications & Email
4. Open the Merchant emails section
5. Switch on the notifications you want to receive
6. Set the address each notification should go to
7. Save your changes
8. Place a test order on your storefront to confirm the notification arrives

{% hint style="warning" %}
If you switch off the new order notification, nobody is told when an order comes in. Only do this if you are monitoring orders another way.
{% endhint %}

If notifications are not arriving, check the address here first, then your mail server details under [Email sender](/features/stores/store-settings/notifications-and-email/email-sender.md).
