# Abandoned cart

An abandoned cart is when a customer adds products to their cart and then leaves without checking out. It happens on every store, and often the customer simply got distracted rather than changed their mind.

These settings let your store email those customers a reminder, and control how many reminders are sent and how far apart.

### Settings

* **Enable** - switches abandoned cart reminders on or off.
* **Reminder intervals** - how many reminders are sent, and how long after the cart was abandoned each one goes out.

### How to Update Your Abandoned Cart Settings

1. Select the store you want to update
2. Click on Manage Store Settings underneath Settings
3. Open Shopping Experience
4. Open the Abandoned cart section
5. Switch Enable on
6. Set how many reminders are sent and the interval between them
7. Save your changes

{% hint style="info" %}
A first reminder within a few hours tends to recover the most carts, while a customer is still interested. Later reminders recover progressively fewer.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Too many reminders reads as pestering and risks customers unsubscribing altogether. Most stores find two or three is enough.
{% endhint %}

You can see which carts are currently open or abandoned in the Shopping Cart Report.
