April 2025

V8.012.001 - V8.012.003 - the platform framework upgrade

Releases: V8.012.001 - V8.012.003

The largest infrastructure change since launch. The platform moved onto a modern framework and a new hosting environment, rolled out in stages across the first half of the month.

In this release: New features - Enhancements

New features

  • Platform framework upgrade - the platform moved from its original framework onto .NET 8 and a new hosting environment, bringing faster processing and a supported, modern foundation. This is what made the work that followed possible, including the headless APIs and the AI tooling on your storefront. See Commerce Platform Upgrade for the full picture, including the later move to .NET 10.

This upgrade was deployed in stages through early April so that stores moved across in a controlled way. There was nothing for merchants to do.

Enhancements

  • Category and brand filters - filters now account for price lists, customer segments and stock levels, so a customer no longer opens a category only to find it empty. Menus also return the full category hierarchy.

  • Filter page crawling - reduced the load caused by automated bots crawling filter combinations.

  • X branding - the old Twitter logo was replaced with the X logo, and share links updated to the current address so sharing works again.

  • Footer year - the copyright year in the storefront footer is now generated automatically rather than being fixed.
