# Control Over Navigation Link Behaviour

Previously there was no setting to choose whether menu links (main and footer) open in the same tab or a new tab. You can now set a target for each navigation menu link.

**How it benefits the Merchant**

* Lets you decide if links open in a new tab or stay in the same tab
* Helps keep customers on your store while still linking out to external resources
* Improves overall navigation and user experience on your site

**Potential FAQs**

Q: Where do I configure whether a link opens in a new tab?\
A: In Backoffice, edit the relevant navigation menu item (main or footer) and choose the target option (e.g. open in the same tab or a new tab).

Q: Does this apply to both header and footer menus?\
A: Yes, the target option is available for supported menu locations.
