# Backoffice UI integration framework for installed apps

A new backoffice integration framework lets installed external applications add their own UI components directly into the backoffice screens.\\

\
This is handled via an orchestration JavaScript file that maps app‑defined components to specific backoffice UI elements, using a central configuration.

**Benefits for merchants**

* **Richer backoffice experience**
  * External tools (e.g. pricing engines, PIM, logistics, CRM add‑ons) can surface directly inside the backoffice, so staff don’t need to jump between systems.
* **Faster workflows**
  * Key actions from integrated apps can sit next to native Storefront actions, reducing clicks and context‑switching for your team.
* **More flexible extensions**
  * Makes it easier for partners and your own developers to build powerful “installed apps” that feel like part of the platform, not bolt‑ons.
* **Future‑proof integrations**
  * A standard framework means new app UI elements can be rolled out and maintained more predictably over time.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://support.storefront.co.za/release-notes/new-features/2026-new-features/february-2026-new-features/backoffice-ui-integration-framework-for-installed-apps.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
