Coupons

A coupon is a discount, offer or promotion offered by a merchant to current or prospective consumers. A coupon can be traded with the store merchant or a third-party merchant for discounted goods.

Coupons are created and managed as a product type, so everything to do with them lives under Catalogue > Products.

There are three things a merchant does with coupons: create the coupon product, load the codes customers will use, and manage the coupons once customers hold them.

Creating a Coupon Product

1. From the back office click on Catalogue > Products

2. From Products, click the Create icon in the top right

3. Click the Create button under Coupon

4. Enter your coupon details, including its value and the terms that apply

5. Click the Save button

Loading Your Own Coupon Codes

When a coupon is created, the system generates the codes given to customers automatically. A merchant who would rather issue their own codes, for example codes agreed with a partner, can load them instead.

1. Open the coupon you wish to load codes on

2. Click the three-dot menu and select load codes

3. Add all the codes separated by a comma only

4. Click Load

5. Check the coupon to confirm the number of codes loaded matches what you entered

Codes must be separated by commas only. Any other separator will not load correctly.

Managing Issued Coupons

Once customers hold coupons, you can see every coupon that has been purchased, which store it belongs to and its current status. You can also see how many coupons have been allocated to customers and how many of those have been redeemed.

Use the kebab menu against a coupon to:

• Void the coupon so it can no longer be used.

• Redeem it on the customer's behalf.

• Extend its expiry date.

• Email it to the customer again, which is what you use when a customer says it never arrived.

Extending a coupon is usually the better answer when a customer just missed the expiry date. Voiding is final.

Redemptions are reported in the Promo Codes Report.
