# Gift Voucher

A gift voucher is a code that you buy from the online store and give to someone, which entitles the person to exchange it for goods worth the same amount.

A gift voucher is a code a customer buys from your store and gives to someone else, entitling the holder to goods to the same value.

Gift vouchers are created as a product type, so they are added under Products alongside your other lines.

### Adding a Gift Voucher Product

1. From the back office click on Catalogue > Products
2. From Products, click the Create icon in the top right
3. Click the Create button under Gift Voucher
4. Enter your SKU
5. Add an image and any additional details, such as the voucher's value and description
6. Click the Save button
7. Open your storefront and check the voucher appears and can be added to a cart

Treat the voucher like any other product on your storefront. It needs a clear image and description, because customers buying a gift want to know what the recipient will receive.

Once customers start buying vouchers, you manage the issued vouchers under [Gift Vouchers](/features/sales/gift-vouchers.md) in the Sales section, and see redemptions in the Voucher Usage Report.
